Letter to a New Friend
So nice to see your face again, old love
You look alright
Your cheeks are still cherry pink
Your smile is still golden and gleaming
Your eyes are sparkling as the sun touches them
You look alright, you look alright.
My love, you know me-
The type of person who’d never want to admit
Words well thought of, tongue tied quite loose
But at this time the past is through
Let me tell you that the memories with you, good or cruel
Are still with me in a box kept by my heart
Though some are torn and others very well kept.
You wave to me a sweet hello I seem to miss
But this time different
Without the same delight that's as sweet as yesterday's
But I don’t know what to do as I carve my smile
Into my face that has been weary, as well as fine
I freeze in thought and my body, seemingly jerky.
I do not know what to tell you love
Shall I give you a peck on a cheek
Or shall I shake your hand or be meek?
My love I do confess I did miss you
Where you've been and how you’ve been
What you’ve learned and what you’ve seen
I never got the chance to know for in a year, separately we grow.
You never talked to me- doors shut
I missed you love, I missed you
Like dry ground that waited for a drop of rain
But oh, I tell you it was the sweetest pain
I’ve ground every grain and erased all the stains
Let the love go and made another grow.
My love now you know
So in these free verses I say
I may not love you now like before
Or you may not love me now like the hot earth’s core
But I am still thankful for this day came
That the sun shone for me to stare at your face
And say it to you straight
Let’s sit down and talk for I missed you, my friend.
reader, pardon me. it's my first time to use use free verse. :p
